Munich, 24 March 2010: together with Stiftung Rechnen and the Scout24 Group, FOCUS-SCHULE is looking for the favourite maths problem among German pupils, teachers and parents, whether it be algebra, geometry or probability calculus. Witty, clever or thrilling maths challenges are accepted as entries. From the first grade to the thirteenth grade – every ability level is allowed.
FOCUS-SCHULE editor-in-chief Matthias Brüggemeier is convinced: “Mathematics is more than crunching numbers. If you want to solve a problem you often need detective flair, lateral-thinking skills and a lot of creativity. That makes what is supposedly dull material become really exciting and can perhaps even convey it better.”
Along with reading and writing, arithmetic is one of the most important skills that young people acquire. Once you master basic calculating operations you can not only cope with Mathematics at school, but you are also ideally prepared for professional and private challenges in particular.
“Together with Stiftung Rechnen we want to show schoolchildren and parents how much fun arithmetic can be. We are pleased that this campaign is making a contribution to putting the importance of mathematics for school and everyday life back in the spotlight”, Dr. Martin Enderle, CEO of the Scout24 Group, explains the joint campaign with FOCUS-SCHULE.
The closing date for entries is 30 June 2010. For more information, go to www.focus-schule.de/matheaufgabeAbout Scout24-Group
