Berlin, 13. November 2018
- Scout24 accepts award for pro bono initiative
- Governing Mayor, IHK Berlin and Berlin Chamber of Skilled Crafts award Berlin companies for their social commitment
- Chief Financial Officer Christian Gisy: "We are pleased about the recognition of our commitment to competence expansion. The award is an incentive for us to continue working for a strong civil society in the future".
"We are delighted about the recognition of our commitment to developing skills for social institutions, social start-ups and NGOs. The award is an incentive to continue to work for a strong civil society in the future. The Berlin Social Academy is and will remain an integral part of Scout24's social commitment," says Christian Gisy, CFO of Scout24 AG.
Already in its sixth year, the BSA taught knowledge on topics such as social media, project management, marketing and fundraising from 15 to 18 October. Numerous experts from the organisers Scout24, Scholz & Friends Reputation, B.Z., Zalando and Microsoft Germany passed on their know-how pro bono to employees and volunteers in 26 workshops. Around 20 other companies supported the BSA with workshops and lectures.
The BSA programme is divided into two main areas. The area of knowledge transfer consists of an extensive course program with workshops and lectures. In the second focal point, the BSA serves as a platform to facilitate an exchange between business, politics and committed civil society and to establish contacts.
The sponsoring companies of the Berlin Social Academy received the special prize of the "Berliner Unternehmenspreis 2018" (from left to right: Sawsan Chebli (State Secretary for Citizenship), Salah Said (Zalando), Viola Raddatz, Mareen Walus (both Scout24), Noemi Sander (Scholz & Friends), Miriam Krekel, Björn Trautwein (both BZ), Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller.
About Berlin Social Academy
Many employees of non-profit organisations need specific expertise for their volunteer work, but do not have sufficient financial resources to acquire this knowledge through training. Due to the increased demand of many social partners at Scout24, the idea of a Social Academy was born in order to provide non-profit organisations with expert knowledge from the companies on a pro bono basis. The first Berlin Social Academy took place in 2013. The organisers in 2018 are Scout24, Scholz & Friends Reputation, B.Z., Zalando and Microsoft Germany. Other companies support the BSA with workshops and lectures. The BSA is the first Berlin-wide cooperation project of the Berlin business community to support local civil society.
