International Women's Day at Scout24 SE

To mark International Women's Day, Scout24 organized an informative lecture on dealing with domestic violence. Isabella Spiesberger, managing director and consultant at the Berlin Center for Violence Prevention (BZfG), spoke about the causes, effects and prevention options of domestic violence dynamics.

Domestic violence is a social problem that often remains hidden. Studies show that one in four women experience physical or sexualized violence within a relationship at some point in their lives. In Germany, a woman is killed by her partner or ex-partner almost every third day.

We took this year's Women's Day as an opportunity to take our social responsibility seriously and follow the suggestion of our Women@Scout community by raising awareness of the issue and highlighting possible courses of action. For a thematic input followed by a round table discussion, we welcomed Ms. Isabella Spiesberger, managing director and advisor of the BZfG and managing board member of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Täterarbeit Häusliche Gewalt e.V. (Federal Working Group on Domestic Violence).

In her presentation, Spiesberger explained the various forms of domestic violence, which go far beyond physical assault and can also include psychological, economic and social dimensions. She particularly vividly explained the importance of recognizing early warning signs and what support services are available to those affected.

Further information on the subject of domestic violence and contact details for advice centers can be found at www.bzfg.deand by calling the nationwide “Violence against Women” helpline on 08000 116 016.
