Summertime is social time at Scout24
At Scout24, we want to make an active contribution to our society and see corporate citizenship as part of our corporate responsibility. That is why we organized our second Scout24 Social Summer in 2021. The Social Summer is a corporate volunteering format that gives employees the opportunity to get involved in social, ecological or cultural projects during their working hours. This year, for the first time, there were two Team Days, where the team spirit of our employees was in the spotlight: Together with other Scouts, the employees had the opportunity to provide homeless people with "Kiezmahlzeiten" (neighborhood meals), to beautify the city with urban gardening, or to hold job application trainings for young people. One of the many projects was dedicated to the topic of "biodiversity" - our employees listened to an interesting lecture, built and painted an insect hotel and even made their own titmouse dumplings.
During the Social Summer, an additional three "Lunch & Learn" sessions were held as part of a Social Week. This format allows employees to use their lunch break to inform themselves about a wide range of topics. This year, the focus was on the topic of inclusion. One of the speakers was Sven Lüdecke, founder of "Little Home e.V.". The association builds living boxes for homeless people and helps them on their way back to a normal life. In another session, Maggi Sorg from the Scout24 brand team presented the "HOME STREET HOME" initiative, with which ImmoScout24 is committed to helping homeless people. Jonas Deister also reported on his "Sozialheld*innen" (social heroes) association. The social heroes raise awareness of the need to include people with disabilities as a target group in products and services - and thus enable them to participate on an equal footing. Scout24 has been partnering with the association for more than 10 years. We provide the social heroes with facilities, infrastructure and our technical expertise at the Berlin location. In return, the social heroes regularly support us in making our products and services even more accessible for people with mobility and visual impairments.
The Social Summer 2021 was a big success. Over 140 Scouts got involved in the various projects or took part in the Lunch & Learn sessions. We thus achieved our goal of raising awareness of social challenges, strengthening team spirit among our employees, and learning from others inside and outside our company.
