Ready to Connect: Scout24 presents the 2017 CSR Report

Scout24, the leading operator of online marketplaces for real estate and automobiles with more than 1,200 employees in Europe, is set to strengthen integration of social and ecological aspects in all business areas going forward. In its 2017 CSR Report "Ready to Connect" published today, the company lays out how preparations made in 2017 paved the way towards that goal. In 2018, Scout24 puts the focus on integrating sustainability aspects in core business areas such as product development.

Berlin/Munich, April 26, 2018 -

  • Our clear-cut goal: Embedding sustainability in all business areas
  • 4,800 hours invested in charitable projects
  • 2018 set to bolster sustainability in product development

"Scout24 is among those German digital companies that devote significant efforts toward corporate social responsibility and those efforts are reflected in our day-to-day operations. To us, CSR means developing a responsible and sustainable relationship with our employees, customers and partners. We want to avoid potential negative impact on society and the environment. Our aim is to integrate sustainability into our daily activities for our business to be successful on a long-term and sustainable basis," says Christian Gisy, CFO of Scout24.

2017: One step at a time towards integrated sustainability

In 2017, Scout24 published its first CSR report on the prior financial year: "Inspiring People - Impacting Worlds”. This report was the first time that Scout24 commented extensively and transparently on its sustainability performance to foster dialogue with internal and external stakeholders.

Scout24 intensified this exchange of ideas in 2017 when the first stakeholder roundtable took place. External CSR experts, digital experts and futurologists met at the invitation of Scout24 to conduct a materiality analysis together with employees and management. A total of 13 strategic action areas for the company's CSR activities were identified.

Additional topics that were widely discussed were collaboration with IT and product development. The support of IT developers through the "Diversity in Tech" initiative and the first Social Hackdays at Scout24 emerged as tangible outcomes of this collaboration. Over three days, IT experts from Scout Group supported various non-profit organizations with their expertise and ideas while forging ahead with their own projects. For instance, one team of developers was working on an Arabic-language app for ImmobilienScout24 designed to increase access to housing opportunities in Germany for refugees.

Corporate volunteering runs in our corporate culture

Our employees support CSR management and the implementation of sustainability projects beyond their regular work by participating in what has become known as “care teams”. In addition to the Berlin-based team, a new team has been active at our Munich site since 2017, making cross-site collaboration more seamless.

The commitment of our employees has been an integral part of Scout24's corporate culture for years. The Scout24 Social Day has been an annual highlight of our corporate volunteering since 2011. Employees are released for a day to volunteer for local organizations. In 2017, Scouts in Berlin, Munich, Cologne and Vienna invested a total of around 4,800 hours in charitable projects.

2018: Unified data acquisition to lesson impact on resources

Ecological considerations are being incorporated in Scout24's CSR work in 2018. In order to better control energy consumption and CO2 emissions, we are pressing ahead with unified data collection on energy consumption at our two corporate sites. Other aspects include recycling and reprocessing of old IT hardware and reducing internal resource consumption.
