Scout24 publishes second report on diversity, equality and inclusion

  • Proportion of women in the company has risen to 46 %, and to over 50 % for new hires

  • The company aims to achieve gender parity across the entire workforce by 2025

Munich / Berlin, 28 May 2024. To celebrate German Diversity Day, Scout24 has published its second report on diversity, equality and inclusion. The operator of the online marketplace ImmoScout24 provides an overview of the company's strategy, goals and measures for the further development of these areas of action.

In the last two years, Scout24 has seen positive developments in many aspects of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI). The company has set itself the goal of achieving gender parity in the entire workforce by 2025. The proportion of women in the overall workforce rose from 41% in 2021 to 46% in 2023. In the Technology division, the proportion of women increased from 25% to 30%. Scout24 was able to increase the proportion of new hires who are female to 50.5 %. After participating in internal leadership programmes, 47% of female participants moved into management positions.

To promote an inclusive working environment, Scout24 has also integrated half-yearly DEI targets into the development plans of managers. Diversity in the company is also part of the criteria for Management Board remuneration. In 2023, two non-financial targets on women in management positions and international diversity were included in the variable remuneration of the Management Board.

‘At Scout24, we take diversity, equality and inclusion seriously. We are convinced that the diversity of our teams makes us more innovative, more creative and therefore more successful. We have already made some progress: we have almost 1,000 employees from 58 nations, almost half of whom are women or non-binary people. Nevertheless, we know that creating an inclusive and diverse working environment remains an important ongoing task, and we are still a long way from reaching our goal,’ comments Tobias Hartmann, CEO of Scout24.

In 2024, Scout24 will focus on promoting people with disabilities, among other things. For example, the company wants to employ more people with disabilities and further improve the accessibility of its platforms. Scout24 is supported in this endeavour by its long-standing cooperation with the Berlin-based association Sozialheld*innen e.V., which campaigns for the participation of people with disabilities. Scout24 has also been a partner of the Annedore-Leber-Berufsbildungswerk since 2023 and offers young people with disabilities the opportunity to complete the practical part of their training at the company.

In order to measure the success of DEI initiatives, create a deeper understanding of inclusion and belonging and explore the potential for further measures, Scout24 conducts regular surveys on the status of inclusive work culture. In this survey, employees are asked about their own perception of acceptance within the team as well as about care work commitments such as childcare or nursing.
