Munich / Berlin, 23 May 2023

On the occasion of today's German Diversity Day, Scout24 has published its first Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) report, providing an overview of the strategy, goals and measures of the stock exchange-listed operator of the online marketplace ImmoScout24 on these topics. The company has set itself the goal of achieving gender parity in the entire workforce by 2025 and to staff more leadership positions with women. Currently, the share of women in the total workforce stands at 43 % and in management positions at 35 %. In order to promote female junior staff, an internal women's coaching pilot project will start in June. Furthermore, the reduction of barriers for people with disabilities is in focus for 2023.

Tobias Hartmann, CEO of Scout24, comments: "Diversity, equity and inclusion are core values for our company. They define our corporate culture, the interaction among our employees and ultimately our performance. We will only be able to realize our full potential if all our employees feel seen, integrated and taken into account. Ever since 2020, we have been working systematically to create a diverse, equal-opportunity and inclusive working environment. The first DEI report now shows that we have made important progress but have still a way to go to reach our goals. In particular, creating gender equity at all levels remains a high priority.”

Since 2020 Scout24 was able to record positive developments in various aspects regarding DEI. This has led to an increased number of women working in tech from 17 % in 2020 to 28 % in 2022. The share of women in the entire organization ranged at 43 % in 2022. Overall, the workforce has also become more diverse in terms of age and internationality since 2020. In 2022, employees from 58 nations worked at Scout24.

One of the important steps Scout24 has been taking so far is conducting annual surveys on the status of inclusive work culture. These surveys not only aim to track DEI initiatives, but they are also supposed to facilitate a deeper understanding of inclusion and belonging and to explore the need for further measures. The data is analyzed anonymously according to different dimensions. In addition to age, gender, religion or disability, questions are also asked about care work commitments such as childcare or nursing.

Furthermore, the report points out that all responsibilities regarding DEI are viewed as a company-wide task, which is anchored at leadership level. In this context, several approaches to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace are presented – such as inclusive leadership, the establishment of LGBTQIA+, women, BIPoC and student communities and equitable talent processes based on merit. Another point of raising awareness within the workforce are theme weeks and days on various aspects of diversity, such as mental health or people with disabilities at the workplace.

Two of the most successful long-standing projects at Scout24 in the DEI area are the gender-inclusive language which has been anchored throughout the products and services of the Scout24 group since 2020, and the cooperation with the Sozialheld*innen e.V., established more than 10 years ago. The collaboration aims to make the company’s products and services increasingly accessible to people with disabilities.
